Where and How to Obtain Coverage

The place people will have to go to acquire the insurance will be the online Health Insurance Marketplaces, originally called Exchanges. Insurance Agents who get the necessary certification will be able to assist you to purchase insurance, but it still will be purchased through the Marketplaces. The Government has also come up with a new name for people and organizations that will be specially trained to help people learn about the law, they called Navigators.

Documents Required To Obtain Coverage
  • Social Security Numbers (or document numbers for legal immigrants)
  • Employer and income information for every member of your household who needs
  • Policy numbers for any current health insurance plans covering members of your household
  • A completed Employer Coverage Tool for every job-based plan you or someone in your household is eligible for. (You’ll need to fill out this form even for coverage you’re eligible for but don’t enroll in.) This form can be found by visiting www.HealthCare.gov
